Freshly, Personally and Powerfully
Don’t think of the Bible as just a collection of musty old documents whose real place is in a library. Don’t think of the pages of Scripture as if they were fossils whose real place is behind glass in a museum. No, God speaks through what he has spoken. Through the ancient text of Scripture the Holy Spirit can communicate with us today freshly, personally and powerfully. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says (“is saying” – it is a present tense – through the Scriptures) to the churches.” (Rev. 2:7, etc.)
